There are many different ways that could lead China and Hong Kong to a happy co-existence. China has to respect the “50 year promise” which means that Hong Kong can stay Capitalist for 50 years after 1997 but after this promise has ran out China can do anything but it has to keep Hong Kong satisfied as China is a big investor in Hong Kong and Hong Kong’s economy is worth ¼ of China’s so China stands to lose a lot if it changes Hong Kong. Hong Kong is used to being a democracy based British colony.
