Interviewing Children and the Ethical Issues Involved
We are all so familiar, have talked about, and have learned from the highly publicized ethical issues involved in the downfall of WorldCom, Enron, and Tyco. It has brought up many ethical issues and ethical discussions in many other businesses that are now looking into their own ethical standards. However, what about the other ethical issues that are not highly publicized and talked about? Ethical issues that involve interviewing and researching children. It is hard to put the two together; ethics and children, since all we have been hearing about and discussing are the ethical issues businesses are having now. Since interviewing children is rising, ethical issues need to be acknowledged, discussed, and known. Children do not know what their rights are when being interviewed or researched. ... This stems from the lack of educating parents and children on the ethical issues that are involved. So, what are the ethical issues we need to know about when interviewing or researching children?
