What is a network plan
According to Gray & Larson, 2003, a network plan is a graphic flow chart of the project plan job that depicts the sequence, interdependencies, and dependencies of all the activities that must be accomplished to complete the project. Work packages from the work breakdown structure (WBS) are used to build the activities found in the project network. Besides depicting the project activities that must be completed, and the sequence in which the activities must be completed, the network also gives the times when activities can start and finish and when they can be delayed. ... The project network with activity time estimates links planning, scheduling, and controlling of projects. Once the times are assigned, a forward and backward pass on the network can be carried out to identify the critical path (longest path through the network).
