“In Response to Executive Order 9606"
“In Response to Executive Order 9606: All American of Japanese Descent Must Report to Relocation Centers” was written by Dwight Okita, a Japanese-American, in the 1940’s. The majority of the Japanese-Americans on the West Coast of the United States were forced into internment camps, such as Manzanar, during World War II. Dwight Okita’s letter expresses the opinion of a fourteen-year old Japanese girl who has been forced to move into the internment camps. Many children were too young to truly experience the injustice the Japanese-Americans went through during this time of war.
