Albert Camus in his short story, “The Guest” is developing the idea that to pursue ideals means to accept the consequences of that pursuit. The consequences can be good or they can be bad depends upon the situation. The consequences must be over come with will power and faith in yourself. In my literacy composition, I will talk about Daru’s main ideals and the consequences that came or could come from these ideals. In “The Guest”, a man named Daru, a schoolmaster, has plenty of ideals that he goes by in life and sticks to these ideals throughout the story. Daru’s first ideal that we come by is when Balducci brings the Arab prisoner to Daru and tells him what he is supposed to do.
