Abstract
Those who manage people are interested in motivation theories and studies because they provide insights into why people perform work as they do. As a result, motivation theories provide managers with methods that can be used to improve productivity. (Arnold, Krapels 1996). An employee motivation survey was conducted using seven employees. A survey of 15 questions was given to each of the employees. What motivates people depends on their perception of the attractiveness of the goal and its attainability. What motivates people depends on their perception of the attractiveness of the goal and its attainability. The key to motivating employees is to know what motivates them and designing a motivation program based on those needs.

The job of a manager in the workplace is to get things done through employees. Motivation practices are difficult task to accomplish. Today the workplace has many employees from so many different backgrounds that it make even more difficult for the manager to know how to motivate each and everyone on the team. The success of any organization depends on the ability of managers to provide a motivating environment for its employees. Motivated employees are more productive, happier, and stay with the organization longer. One of the primary tasks a manager faces is to find out what motivates their staff. By understanding employee needs, managers can understand what rewards to use to motivate them.
