Politics of the 30's
During our brisk four years in high school, there were many issues that would pave the way to the manner of life we now live. The political scene began as we were to elect a new president in 1936. President Roosevelt’s term was just coming to an end. Even though none of us were old enough to vote, everyone followed the race. The candidates from the two major parties were Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Alfred Landon from the Democrat and Republican parties, respectively. The race turned out to be the clearest victory in a presidential race ever in the history of the United States unlike the previous one we just went through in 2000. The public seemed to appreciate Roosevelt’s work to get the country through the Great Depression as he received 60.8% of the popular vote.
