In a supervisory position, managers are required to have good interpersonal skills along with their managerial expertise. A recent study performed in England, by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, proved that most employees leave their job as a result of discrepancies with their immediate manager. I feel that the management function leading, is overlooked in many cases; as the article states, “The difficult bit is the area of interpersonal relationships.” Leading is when managers encourage and manipulate those that are working under them.
