Introduction Over the past decade, scholars have offered many different perspectives on what the United States should do to secure its dominance on the international arena. For example, one perspective, heavily influenced by the Cold War dynamic, suggests that the answer lies in the ability of the United States to construct a grand strategy to guide its foreign policy. Another perspective proposes that the supremacy of the United States could only be legitimate if it actually refrain itself from acting too arrogantly on the international stage. A third perspective recommends that the United States should instead use its “soft power” to manipulate the rest of the world into accepting the role of the United States. All these viewpoints are no doubt accurately in their stands. However, I argued that the real key for the United States to succeed in this field is not from any one of the perspectives mentioned above, but from a fourth perspective and that is the United States should display an effective and a consistent leadership in order to court the world into accepting rather than challenging the dominance of the United States. Ever since the end of the Cold War, the leadership of the United States in championing the world into the major conflicts of the “new world order” has not been as effective and consistent as it should be.
