For example, in the article, “What is FGM”, it is stated that Muslims, Coptic Christians, Indigenous Groups, Protestants, and Catholics in Africa partake in circumcision (1). Female circumcision is actually practiced by Egyptian Christians and Ethiopian Jews. Although Mohammed’s sayings relate to female circumcision, the Koran and Sunnah do not show direct reference to female circumcision (To Mutilate 4-5).
