The United States Constitution The United States Constitution is the basis for our most fundamental rights as Americans and has been a key element in nearly every major legal a political debate ever argued in our country. But as Americans do we really understand the history and meaning of the Constitution. One need look no further than the preamble to get a basic understanding of the philosophy of our founding forefathers; “We, the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
