Tobacco is greatly made in Tennessee. Tobacco growth here is very important to our state. Being a Tennessee Senator I know we cannot ban tobacco in this country. Tobacco is traditionally one of the top commodities grown by Tennessee farmers. Tennessee is one of the leading tobacco growing states in the US. Only two other states grow more tobacco than we do. In the year 2000 alone, we grew over one hundred million pounds of tobacco. There are about fifteen thousand farms that make all together two hundred million dollars for making tobacco. This means every tobacco farm in Tennessee averages six and a half thousand pounds of tobacco. ...
