Pain
Pain is a very unpleasant sensation and is also an emotional experience. There are many forms of pain, it may be mild or severe, acute or chronic, physical or psychological. Pain is a protective signal of tissue damage or of impending tissue damage. Pain is also influenced by many factors like age, sex, culture, emotional status, history of pain, self-image, time of day and environment.

Assessment of pain
To assess the pain of an older client you need to first ask the client where the pain is located.
