Truly effective project managers are not easy to find. Many people have the potential to become successful project manager, however the first step in this process is for the individual to truly understand the duties and characteristics of their given position.
DUTIES OF A PROJECT MANAGER

As quoted above, Project managers must first understand their duties, before they can truly be successful at their job. Here is a list of the most significant duties of a project manager:
1) Full Responsibility and Accountability for the Project. The project manager is fully accountable for the outcome of the project. In essence, he/she is the glue that holds the project together. It is the project managers responsibility to lead the project with passion, as if it was his or her own business. ... The project manager studies the lessons learned from prior projects and applies the most important lessons to the new project.
3) Defines Project Roles and Responsibilities. The project manager is ultimately responsible for ensuring that project members understand what is expected of them and what they should expect from one another.
