What is the Matrix? This is the same question that Neo, the main character in the movie, had asked. The answer to the question is that The Matrix is a dream world that machines and computers built to harvest energy from human's mind. These machines control all feelings and behaviors which are determine by our five senses, and is send to the brain to process. This dream world is so real that the people whose hooked up to these machines do not know whether they are awake, or dreaming because the machines all their senses. When we are in a dream, we would not know that we are dreaming because our mind tells us this is a reality and until we wake up that is when we realizes that it was just a dream. From this idea, the producer of this movie uses principles from Descartes, Plato, Locke and Berkeley of what is reality and dreams. In the movie, The Matrix is a dream world that everybody is connected with it. After taking the red pill, Neo was able to wakes up from the dream world to embraces reality. As Morpheus mention that “you never know the real world from a dream world,” if someone is continuously dreaming, he will never know of a real world. For instance, if a group of people are in a cave and they are faced to wall. Furthermore, all they could sees of the real world are shadows, their senses will tell them that it is reality. However, we all know that it is not the real world because we are outside of the cave and we can see, feel, and touch the surroundings. Therefore, the only way for the people in the cave to understand what is real and what is not is to experience it. The shadows are like The Matrix, and the people in it only sees what it wanted for them to see. Morever, until the people in The Matrix realizes that there is something wrong with the world they are in, their life will only be like the people in the cave.
