The media is responsible for many negative things, but I don’t think that it can be blamed for violence in teens, or few other people over the age of eight or nine. Wavering statistics may show that both teen violence and violence in movies have gone up. ... On the other hand, they may be very connected simply because society’s tolerance for violence has gone up. ... So by citing the ever-dependable statistics, it’s only normal that people with little knowledge of how strange American culture works believe that teen violence is increasing because of these movies rather than in addition to these movies.
