Glory was created in 1989 and directed by Edward Zwick, the movie is a portraly of an epic war. Glory is set during the Civil War era and is centered on the Col. ... The movie also follows a runaway slave named Trip (Denzel Washington) who comes to embody slave rebellion and resistance through all of his stands and unwillingness to accept outside help. The movie shows some of the racist relationships such as Trip being severely beaten for desertion, Rawlins having to beg for decent shoes, and Mulcahy constantly harassing Thomas Searles (Andre Braughter). The first battle that takes place in the movie is the Battle at James Island where the 54th Massachusetts wins with great success.
