Divine Dependence
The existence of humans requires the divine themselves; if there were no gods in history and mythology, there would have been no creation of humans. It is understood that an educator without pupils cannot be imagined, a monarch without subjects could not exist, a creator without a creature is impossible, and it is so that human existence demands the existence of the divine. ... This shows the relationship between man and the divine as one that is under full control of the divine. ... Genesis states that he “created humankind in his image” which can be interpreted that human beings resemble and can be compared to divine beings (Access Bible, Gen. ... The main difference in the life of the divine and the life of humans is in the reality of death; “the life of a man is short. ... Gilgamesh, created by the goddess Aruru and “son of Lugalanda, son / of the Lady Wildcow Ninsun”, and, “out of earth and clay and divine spittle the double, / the stormy-hearted other”, Enkidu both share the same fate (Gilgamesh 3-4, 5). The reoccurring theme of the biblical God and the gods of Gilgamesh showing their dominance and control over their creations demonstrates effectively the need for the divine in relationship with humans.
