Smoking is Not Joking

What are your views on smoking? My view is that smoking is unhealthy. You don't want your breath to smell bad or your clothes to smell bad either, right? Tobacco contains tar, nicotine, and carbon monoxide. Tar is a thick, dark liquid when tobacco burns. It covers the lining of your lungs which then causes lung disease. Nicotine is a drug that speeds up the heartbeat and breathing rate (a stimulant). It makes the user want more tobacco and it can cause dizziness and an upset stomach in beginners. Carbon monoxide is a poisonous gas formed when tobacco burns. Carbon monoxide is what makes the exhaust fumes of cars dangerous.
Smoking is also dangerous because one puff of smoke exposes the body to over 3,000 chemicals, and it brings danger to an unborn baby if the mother smokes. When someone smokes, your bronchi (passages through which air enters the lungs) becomes clogged and then infected. People can receive cancer from smoking and it is usually FATAL. Also, you can receive emphysema, a disease when alveoli (tiny air sacs in lungs) are damaged or destroyed. Smoking dulls your taste buds and the user will form an addiction. Plus, tobacco is also expensive.
Many teens smoke because they think it makes them look and feel cool or in control. Others try a cigarette to see what it's like and they feel dizziness, a headache, and an upset stomach. Still others use tobacco because of peer pressure. If you are ever in a situation where you are asked to smoke, you should have a well-prepared answer to say no. You can refuse by saying you aren't interested. You can also use a reason. It can be that you want to keep your breathing healthy for a sport or that a relative died from it. If someone keeps on saying you are a chicken, you should stand your ground, ask why it is important for you to share their habit, and then just walk away. To help resist pressure,...
