The effects of music on society
Imagine that you are sitting in a movie theater. The music gradually starts to get louder and louder as the character approaches her car in a parking garage late at night. ... The closer she gets to her car, the louder the background music gets. Suddenly the music stops. ... You probably didn’t even realize how the music was used to influence suspense.
Music plays a very important role in society, though many people take it for granted.
It can have tremendous positive or negative effects on our lives. Our mood, behavior, emotions, health and relationships can be altered, simply by listening to music. By discovering how certain types of music affect us, we can use it as a tool to improve our quality of life, or, as a means of destroying it.
Our moods and emotions can be altered by hearing music, whether we actually enjoy what we are hearing or not. Certain types of music have specific effects. Slower paced music is relaxing and fast paced music is invigorating and arousing.
