Socialist Critique of Classical Liberalism
When classical liberalism first began to emerge in strength in the 18th century, it seemed to many to be a solution to the problems created by the feudal system in place in Scotland. ... The impoverished conditions that were created in part by capitalism some argued only created a new kind of oppressor for the people, and that the masses were no better off than before classical liberalism became popular. ... I think that some of the ideas present in classical literalism’s philosophies are valid, such as the freedoms discussed regarding life, liberty, and the ‘pursuit of property. ... In the end I feel that the socialist critiques of classical liberalism were mostly valid.
