Life in Manzanar

Living was rough on Japanese families during the time of the Pearl Harbor attack. Especially on the families whose fathers were chosen to fight in the war. The Wakatusuki family is an example of how rough things were during this time. The mother deals with the majority of the issues faced during this time. She has to continue moving to wherever the government sends her and her family, as well as living in an internment camp with no privacy. One other issue is the rage and anger of her husband when her returns from the war. As soon as Pearl Harbor was attacked the lives of the Wakatsuki’s was never the same. Immediately Papa was sent off to war and the rest of the family was sent to Terminal Island. While living there Mama has to get a job to support her family; she is not used to this task because Papa has always supported for the family, but when she has to do his job she does it. The family is soon sent to another place to live. While there Mama gets another job, however this job isn’t as good as her last.
