Formation of Equitable Classrooms I believe that Elizabeth Cohen has the right idea in her article “Equitable Classrooms in a Changing Society”(Schools & Society. ... ) It is my opinion that the formation of equitable classrooms will lead to the greatest actualization of student abilities. The degree of success that the student will achieve in an equitable classroom will not be limited by extrinsic factors that they cannot control but rather by his or her intrinsic abilities and values. As classrooms become more equitable the achievement of all students raise, and the school as a whole will be viewed as place where all students are able to succeed regardless of race, ethnicity, linguistic or social class. While this process will not happen overnight there are several ways to begin the process of making our schools more equitable. With this in mind, I will suggest some ways that the schools can become a more equitable place for educational achievement to occur.
