Wild (connotates: crazy, out of control, no variety, fun, bitter) Grapes (Connotates: Fruit, sweet, purple, green, vineyard) Wild Grapes (Connotates: Out of control grape vine with no particular variety, with bitter tart tasting grapes) This poem is about an old an old orchid, which only contains wild grapes now. The poet focuses our attention on an orchid a grape vine and a girl. The orchid is old, smoky and near a marsh. The past carers were European settlers, which is shown by their names Mulligans and Hartigans, gave up on the orchid and are now deceased. There used to be cherries and vibrant shiny apples growing in the orchid but now only a grapevine remains in the remnants of the orchid.
