Origins of Racism It may be asked what is the origin of the prejudice behind the attempt to classify certain groups/individuals as inferior on the ground of their racial composition. Is it universal or of recent origin? Anthropologists have studied we Fijians have always displayed some elements of group pride prior to the British colonial days. There were no other races except cultural differences. We were very isolated from all other races in the world that our antagonisms were merely cultural and not so much biological.
