Hermeneutical Research Paper In this paper, I will discuss the metaphor of the life and purpose of Christ and Neo’s life and purpose in the move “The Matrix” The components of the biblical metaphor, the movie parallel and the biblical sources are: predicted Coming – Isaiah 7:14, his virgin birth- Matthew 1:24-25, his disciples/The Crew - Mark 3:14, John the Baptist/Morpheus - John 1:29,30 & 34, Judas/Cypher – Matthew 26:15-16 & Luke 22:47- 48, Foretelling of Death & Resurrection – Matthew 16:21, Sacrifice – Matthew 20:28, Death and Resurrection – Matthew 12:40 & Luke 24:4-7, A greater power after the Resurrection – Matthew 28:18, Radiant Presence – Matthew 12:2, and the Ascension – Mark16:19.
