The Philadelphia Inquirer has been ranked as the third oldest circulation newspaper in the industry. Jesper Harding founded The Philadelphia Inquirer in 1829 as the Pennsylvania Inquirer. It was not until 1860 that William Harding, Jesper Harding’s son, changed the name to Philadelphia Inquirer. At that time, the paper was published from a small print shop on Bank Alley in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1925, the Inquirer moved to its current location, at Broad and Callowhill in Center City Philadelphia. There have been several ownerships in the Philadelphia Inquirer including James Elverson (1889), James Elverson, Jr.
