Bye Bye Birdie Production

The Esperance Theatre Guild has invited professional performing arts practitioner, Paul McKay, to work with members of the local arts community to present the musical Bye Bye Birdie in the first quarter of 2004. Bye Bye Birdie centres around the character of Conrad Birdie, a famous young pop star (suggestive of Elvis Presley), who has been drafted into the army. His manager, Albert Peterson, is determined to avoid losing his lucrative client to the armed forces and so hatches a publicity stunt involving Kim McAfee, a randomly selected teenage fan from Birdie’s massive fanbase. ... Bye Bye Birdie will provide opportunities for up to 15 onstage roles for teenagers aged between 13 and 18, as well as 12 roles for adults.
