The Next Day (in continuance from “The Revolt of Mother”) The next day, the farmer woke up and to his astonishment it was no dream, but actuality. He really did live in a barn, and just could not believe it. He rolled out of bed, and quietly stepped on the hay floor, careful not to wake up his wife who still slept contently. He went into the first stall of the barn where “she” had decided that the kitchen would be, and made coffee for a long day’s work. It was going to be very frustrating around the farm and the household for the next day or so. His plan had not yet been well thought out, but like a slap in the face, he still did not know what had hit him, so he hadn’t really have a chance to think yet. “This woman is putting me, my family, and my animals in an odd predicament; one that can not be explained,” he thought to himself. “The animals are in the house and we are in the barn.” Living in the barn didn’t even seem humane to Adoniram Penn, the old farmer.
