Roles of Women in Judaism
The role of women is an area in Judaism that has gone through the most transformation in recent times. The issue of gender roles in Jewish life is the subject of the most heated discussions and causes the deepest divides. With positions ranging from maintaining gender roles to erasing the genders differences in religious practices, the debate continues to go on. These debates of gender roles are what most visibly distinguish the different observance based divisions of Judaism. This essay will discuss the different roles of women in the different divisions of this religion. In Orthodox Judaism, the separate roles of men and women remain a valued aspect in Jewish life. The general roles of women have been constant through out history.
