Communications Project
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is a school that has influenced my life in several ways. As a little girl I often dreamt of being a student. The school was a symbol of prestige, intelligence, and professionalism. In my youth, I believed that if this was the college I attended my life would magically be perfect from then on. Although my ideas are not quite the same today, UNC is still a school that hopefully one day I will attend. UNC’s website only furthered my desire to one day be a student there. This desire has often helped fuel me to study and work harder in school. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s website communicated many positive attributes to prospective students. This site was very professional looking and easy to navigate. UNC’s home page was broken down into various categories (i.e. Academics, Alumni, Student Life) so that even someone without much computer experience could find what they were looking for. Each academic program had a mission statement and links to the faculty and administration, scholarships, organizations, and events relevant to the program of study. Student life at UNC is communicated as a diverse community that has pride in being “Tarheels.” Many of the student organizations were aimed at improving a student scholastically. However, others were aimed at improving a student socially. It is obvious that UNC’s athletics is a large part in campus life. The athletics link had extensive information on every player, team, and sport UNC offered. This website is one of the best university sites I have come across. The vast information the site had to offer in every area of college life and the attractive way it was displayed helps make the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill one of the most prestigious schools in this area.
