The story of oxford dictionary The story of oxford dictionary startedin 1884 when james murry published the first edition of what he called theNew English Dictionary (NED). Murry was a language loving scotch who was eager to divelop a new concept dictitionary following the historical divelopment of the word’s adoptation abd list each word accordingly. Whe Murry started his work on this dictionary in 1879, he planned it in 12 chappters but he achieved six chappters of the NED before his demise in 1915.
