All throughout the story Alexis Zorba has been depicted as a chauvinist pig. ... I believe Zorba saying that is appalling and completely false. Women are not the weaker sex, they are strong and the creator of life, and the master of love. But something throughout the story makes me think that Zorba is not the chauvinist that appears to be. ...
Right after off the bat, Zorba says “Married? ... Zorba constantly gives the remarks about women downgrading them to stupid weak creatures which are entirely false.
Although women during that time frame were known to be weak and helpless, there is a little feeling that I can see in Zorba having a true love for women. Zorba starts out with comments of their body and voluptuous curves, plump breasts, and even breast that look like they’ve been “milked out. ... Zorba acknowledges that women need to be treated with respect-(as least in front of their face).
At the beginning of the story Boss and Zorba meet Dame Hortense.
