Scientists hope to learn from past climates, to understand today’s global warming.In the past, the earth has experienced extreme climate changes, from very hot to freezing. Climatologists use many methods to learn about past climates, clues that were left on rock and ice. Russian and American scientists take different approaches to understanding the past to predict the future. Russian scientists think that since past climate conditions can be associated with higher levels of carbon dioxide, and therefore indicating that we are in for a more severe warming trend.
