Investigate the factors which can affect the distance travelled by a loaded margarine tub
Theory
When the margarine tub moves it has energy, this energy depends on the mass of the tub, the surface area of the tub and the amount of velocity the tub has. ... It then goes into the margarine tub as kinetic energy, which changes to heat energy in the floor due to the friction. ... If there is more energy then the tub will mover faster and will travel over a further distance causing more heat energy due to greater amounts of friction.
Prediction
My prediction is that the more stretched the elastic band is the further the margarine tub will travel. I think this as there will be more energy in the elastic band if it is pulled back further which means the tub will have more velocity due to more energy being present.
