Social Problems

Not far from the speeding cars, the crowds of people, and the noise from urban cities there is a beautiful river of grass known as the Everglades. Many people have heard of it, but few can actually appreciate how fragil and precious it really is. The word "glade" literally means a clearing in the forest.Unfortunally, Everglades does not mean everlasting. Due to the human activity in and around the Everglades, the water supply(or more appropriately the blood supply)that circulates through the wetlands has been cut-off diverted, poisoned, and drained. Florida's increasing population has put a real demand on cultivatable land.Consequently more people are interested in drying the Everglades to use it as farm lands.Environment activists are fighting them all the way.
