To Believe or Not To Believe in Technology Computers are an essential part of our day-to-day lives. There are endless uses for computers; however, the most popular use for computers these days is to surf the Internet. Many people surf the net for fun, but for many of us, we use the Internet to obtain information to enhance our knowledge on certain interests. But have you ever asked yourself how credible the information that you have downloaded is? This is the question that the authors of “Credibility and Computing Technology” attempt to answer. Their success in answering this question begins with the definition of what they perceive as credibility to be. Further on in the article, the authors categorize when credibility matters in human-computer interactions, how credibility is gained, lost and regained, and how to evaluate credibility. The types of definitions used to define credibility and principles of classification utilized will be analyzed and discussed in this essay.
