Is nationalism the only cause of World War One
World War One, is now more commonly known as ‘The Great War’. It involved more countries and destroyed the lives of more people than any other war. But how did the terror and destruction of this mortifying war actually begin? There is the argument that nationalism was alone the cause because it forced communities apart and people began to quarrel. As history sees it, there was much more to the beginning of this war than it appears. Although nationalism played a role in many of the causes of WW1, it was clearly not the only cause. ... The situation between these two groups over time became very tense and it came to the point where if a war was to begin between any two rival countries, that the others on that side were expected to join in. One of the main events, which sparked the beginning of the Great War, was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
