why should referendums use for elections

referendums are votes taken by citizens on proposed laws or fundamental changes in the nation whereas elections are public choices of governmental representatives under a democratic system. ... elections require voters to choose which Mps and which political parties they would prefer to form the governemnt and run the country. referendums, however, happen when the government in power decides to pose a question to the public to find out their current views.
