Plot: Gentle Ben is about a boy named Mark that has just lost his older brother to tuberculoses and he discovers a new best friend while he was walking home from school one day. ... Everyday as Mark is walking home from school he stops to see Ben and he realizes that he is hungry and starts to save part of his lunch everyday to share with the bear. ... When Mark had gone up to bed for the night and his parents were still at the table he crept out of bed and snuck over to the vent in the floor that went to the downstairs and listened to what they were saying and Karl was saying ”I will sleep on it and I might say yes”, his mom responded ”Karl do you really think you will change your mind? ... With this Mark’s heart had been crushed and he crept back into bed. ... The first night out on the ship Mark couldn’t sleep because of the noises coming off the mountain of two bears fighting over something and the smell of burnt oil coming from a boat that they are tied up with. ... Fog Benson had realized how Mark had been training the bear and while being intoxicated decided he was going to show his friends that the bear would do the same things for him.
