Views of phoniness

Holden’s view of phoniness contradicts itself numerous times, but his view of himself and his superior attitude will not allow him to realize this. Holden views of phoniness often come from things he despises and things he disagrees with but after he calls these things phony he ends up contradicting himself. An example of Holden contradicting himself after making a statement about calling someone or something funny was when. He was at Ernie’s club and was watching Ernie play then Holden said how Ernie was phony because of how people clapped for him and how Ernie bowed and showed off by playing the piano.
