Stress and technology
Stress and Technology According to the American Institute of Stress, we find a condition known as Technostress. “Technostress is personal stress generated by a reliance on technological devices, a panicky feeling when they fail and a state of near constant stimulation.” (Heinrich Rizzo, 1999) Stress in our era of technology is inevitable but manageable. If we examine a typical, day of a business associate we find technology a part of every moment of every day. It is common for a business associate to spend a good majority of each day “plugged in” to the technology of cellular telephones, computers, and voice mail, fax machines and pagers. ... Stress of Yesteryears If we look back into the day of our ancestors, we find minimal technology and minimal stress. As little as 100 years ago we would have found minimal access to electricity and how ironic today to find most of society can not function with out not only electricity but such technology as telephones, internet and so on.
