MOTHER SAVAGE The narrator in Guy de Maupassant’s short story “Mother Savage”, visits his old town that he has not been to for many years. ... One day, the mother received a letter stating that her son was brutally murdered in the war. After reading this letter, the mother felt very angry and decided to get revenge on the soldiers. ... After the German officers found out that mother savage killed the enemy soldiers, they seized her, pushed her against the wall, and a dozen German soldiers lined up and shot her to death. Mother Savage, Victoire Simon took the lives of four German soldiers to satisfy the revenge she felt because of the murder of her son. The reader feels sympathy for the way mother savage was feeling after finding out that her son was murdered and can agree with her actions. Mother savage’s actions were triggered by a letter stating that here son was murdered.
