WILLIWMA MCKINELY

•The major conflict of the McKinley administration was the Spanish-American war and its effects. Though the war resulted in the acquisition of three formerly Spanish territories, making the U.S. a minor world power, it also resulted in a loss of unity within America. Before the McKinley administration, the U.S. had been a big conglomerate mass (with the exception of Alaska, which was considered nothing but a vast, frozen desert at the time), but with the introduction of Guam, Puerto Rico, the Philippines, and Hawaii into the United States' governing influence, America became much less of a unified body.
