One thing that contradicts the so-called greatness of Elizabeth’s rule was the beheading of Mary Queen of Scots, a cousin of Elizabeth’s. Even though Elizabeth was an effective ruler she had a cruel side which was shone in the beheading of a relative. Elizabeth took over the throne after the death of her half sister, Mary Tudor.
