Columbus Impact on Native Americans
In 1492 Christopher Columbus arrived in America. ... However it also marked to beginning of the end for many Native American civilizations. The first impact that the arrival of Columbus had on Native Americans was that they thought of the Spaniards as celestial beings. This belief was perpetuated by the fact that the Native Americans that Columbus took with him to visit the islands of the Caribbean would proclaim this immediately upon their arrival (Adler 3). Columbus also felt that the Native Americans might be led to become Christians and pledge their allegiance to the King, Queen and Spain as a whole (Adler4).
