Why Pearl has a tantrum in The Scaerlet Letter
Essay #2 Pearl is the daughter of Hester Prynne. She is an impish little girl who enjoys the fact that the letter “A” is branded on her chest. The “A” is a symbol for adultery, and it is how Pearl came to be. While conversing with Arthur Dimmesdale, Hester removes the letter and calls for Pearl. Pearl throws a fit when she sees that the scarlet letter is missing.
