Grundy’s reading looks at the curriculum debate in Australia. The main issues of contestation are political, the definition and value of knowledge and what is curriculum. The political power struggle comes from the shifting on control of the Australian curriculum from the states to the national level. The second debate is what is legitimate knowledge, which saw curriculum control taken from university academics and shifted to the political arena.
