Literature Ghost GHOST………Directed by Jerry Zucker, 1990. Starred Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg. The Genre of this film is that of Romantic Melodrama. It tells us the story of Sam and Molly it shows us their love and devotion for one and other. But it doesn’t just show us their love, it shows us how human spirit can triumph even across the differing planes of existence, and how that good can and does win out in the battle over evil. It also shows us the moral aspect of Sam’s friend Carl, who to cover his own ill deeds and greed sets Sam up to be robbed and in the course of the robbery is killed. The director opens with a scene of fog and dust (he uses filter effects) as the camera tracks through an old attic. He also makes use of a brick wall (frame shot) as we hear the hammering on the other side, the camera movement cuts from one side of the wall to the other where Sam, Carl and Molly are using sledge hammers on the wall, the camera returns to the wall as it crashes and we see the three standing in the walls frame.
