History of Australian music
The evolution of the Australian music industry has undergone countless changes and trends since the 1950’s, growing from early blues and jazz, to surf music, rock n roll, big beat, heavier rock, then coming into the 1980’s and 90’s, growing into metal, grunge, punk, dance, disco, and many other styles. In this introduction assignment into the Music Industry, I will briefly discuss the evolution of the Australian music industry in the last 50 years. ... Political and social trends, and changes, and finally, world crises and how they affected the music industry. Technological advances in the music industry over the last 50 years have had on of the most significant roles in the evolution of the Australian and global music scenes. ... This had a hugely altering effect on music, as seen in Russel Morris’ “The real thing” at a mammoth 6 minutes long, was one of the first songs to be recorded on long play records. The release of the “compact cassette” by Phillips in the 1960’s meant that music was now on a longer, and smaller format, again meaning the artists were less inhibited by time restraints.
